Imams in Kaduna demand arrest of Christian leaders over Southern Kaduna

The Council of Imams and Ulama in Kaduna state hasdemanded the arrest and prosecution of the president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and others for the alleged escalation of the mayhem in Southern Kaduna. The Imams in Kaduna said the statements by the Christian leaders provoked more violence The part of Kaduna has since late 2016 witnessed heavy attacks and killings despite security deployment and curfew imposed by the government. The Imams are insisting that the attacks on some villages in the area were heightened through inflammatory and false statements by those who they want arrested. Forced retirement: Pastor Adeboye under fire for criticising FG

General overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has been criticised by some Nigerians for accusing the federal government of meddling in church matters. Pastor Adeboye has urged members of RCCG to register as card-carrying members of political parties ahead 2019 general elections. Adeboye, made the accusation on Sunday, December 8, at the Redemption Camp, Kilometre 46, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun state, in reaction to a regulation by the Financial Regulatory Council of Nigeria, (FRCN) which stipulates 20 years tenure for heads of religious groups and civil society groups in the country. The cleric had said the government has been showing increasing interest in church affairs, especially against the RCCG.
