Lagos – The Lagos State Government will not relent in its effort at making the state the safest place to live in by providing a safe environment, the Commissioner for The Environment, Dr Babatunde Adejare has said. Adejare made the assertion at the official flag-off of the Lagos State Market Deratisation Programme, aimed at ridding the state of the Lassa Fever vector at Obalende market on Thursday.      The government is collaborating with Phosguard Fumigants, an NGO, to promote the programme through “Kill rats, make more money in Lagos’’. The House of Representatives has mandated two of its committees to investigate the alleged abduction and forceful marriage of 14-year old Habiba Isa in Katsina State. The House noted with concern recent media reports that Habiba, from Warkaza community in Kankara local government area was married off forcefully. Adopting a motion by Rep Raphael Nnanna Igbokwe (PDP, Imo) the House said Section 21 of the Child’s Rights Act provides that “No person shall remove or take a child out of the custody or protection of his father or mother or guardian against the will of the father, mother or guardian.” The lawmakers added that the alleged marriage was without the consent of her parents, who have been reported to be under threat and harassment over their request for the release of their daughter. Fagbemi, an employee of Superior Belt and Game Company, Maryland, Lagos, is being tried for serious assault at an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court. The Magistrate, Mrs. O.
