The Queen Drove Kate Middleton Around Her Estate This Weekend.





  There was a whole lot of Royals Countryside Driving in Balmoral.

e might think that a member of the royal family—with any kind of resource at his or her disposal—would decide to never bother driving a car. Heck, the whole point of being a prince or princess is to never have to worry about, like, making a dinner reservation or remembering to go to the A.T.M., right? Who needs the annoyance of driving? Driving is just time you can’t be looking at your phone. And why should, say, Kate Middleton have to spend any time in her life without the ability to check her text messages should she so desire?
But, despite what any of us might presume, the royals apparently really like to drive—or, at least, they like driving enough that they often make the choice to do it themselves, rather than have a chauffeur take them around.
This weekend, Kate, William, George, and Charlotte (as well as Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael) made their annual trip to Balmoral, the Queen’s Scotland estate. And while we were not gifted, sadly, with any pictures from the game of Twister and late-night karaoke that we assume took place inside the castle, we do have a bunch of pictures of the group driving around the countryside.
First, on Saturday, the Queen was photographed driving Kate to a “remote part of the estate to meet with William for a picnic.” The Queen is known to get behind the wheel, so this isn’t altogether shocking, though it certainly makes for a striking visual, the Queen (in a green vest) in the driver’s seat, while the Duchess (outfitted in a green jacket and brown scarf) rides shotgun, presumably cranking up the new Lady Gaga single on the radio.
On Sunday, the group headed to the church, and Prince William was photographed driving Kate. People reports thatCharles (oh yeah, Charles and Camilla were also there this weekend) also took the wheel, driving Camilla to the service. And at another point over the weekend, the Queenwas seen driving Carole and Michael Middleton around. They love their countryside driving, these royals! At this rate, we would not be surprised if a picture emerges soon of George driving Charlotte to the Sunday service on a two-person tricycle.
